History of formation

Duc Thanh School is located next to the Ca Ty River and officially operated from 1907 to 1912. It was established according to the general criteria of the Duy Tan movement initiated by Phan Chau Trinh: "to raise the people's intellect, schools must first be established." Mr. Nguyen Trong Loi, Nguyen Quy Anh, and Nguyen Thong, with a strong national spirit, along with other patriotic intellectuals, founded the school.

Although established in the 90s, the school carries a rare modern ideology that does not follow the beaten path. The school mainly taught the national language. In addition, there were other subjects such as Chinese characters, Nom script, French, and physical education.

The school staff consisted of 7 teachers, with Mr. Nguyen Quy Anh as the principal. Due to the difficult circumstances of the country, the scale of teaching was not very large. At its peak, there were about 50 to 60 students, of which only 4 were female.

Three years after Duc Thanh School was established, Uncle Ho was introduced by a friend of Nguyen Sinh Sac to teach here. That year, the 20-year-old young man Nguyen Tat Thanh came with many ambitions to become the youngest teacher here.

The talented teacher taught three subjects: National Literature, Chinese Literature, and Physical Education. When the French teacher was absent, he also took on this subject. Throughout his teaching process, he always promoted deep patriotism to the next generation. From there, he honored the national spirit, knowing that the younger generation would be the backbone of the country later. In February 1911, he left his beloved school to seek a path to save the nation.
