The church is located in Phat Diem town, about 30km south of Ninh Binh province's center. The total area of the construction is 22 hectares, 117m wide, and approximately 243m long with various components. Inside, there is a main area and 5 smaller sections built for Catholic rituals.

Priest Peter Tran Luc initiated the construction with high-quality wood and stone materials transported from various regions such as Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Son Tay,... making it durable to this day.

Phuong Dinh has the shape of a three-tiered village communal house with five arched doors, all made of green stone, with intricately carved stone columns and stairs. On the walls along the path and in the sections are reliefs clearly depicting Catholic characteristics. From the upper floor, one can admire the entire complex of Phat Diem Stone Church.
On the upper floor, there is a 2-ton bronze bell, 1.9m high, whose sound can be heard over 10km when rung.
