Quang Ninh Museum is a unique cultural symbol, impressively designed with a distinctive architecture that is one of a kind in the Northeast region. It is dubbed the “black pearl” by the local people, embodying the rich cultural identity of the mining land.
The museum was established in 1960, initially named the Hong Quang History and Revolution Museum. In 1963, Hong Quang and Hai Ninh merged to form Quang Ninh, and the museum was renamed Quang Ninh Museum. Here is the specific address for visitors to visit.

The museum was designed by the talented architect from Spain - Salvador Perez Arroyo and was recognized as the “Architecture of the Year” in 2014, voted by the Vietnam Association of Architects, in the category of Sports - Cultural Works. Currently, there are over 30,000 artifacts displayed here, including 12 artifacts certified as national treasures. At the same time, it is also one of the units preserving the most national treasures in Vietnam, attracting a large number of domestic and international tourists to visit and admire.
The museum is built as a complex including a library and a museum, differing from the traditional style often seen, creating a distinctive highlight. The entire structure is covered with modern black glass layers, reflecting the images of the sea and sky of Ha Long Bay right in front. This floor displays whale and giant shark skeletons along with many rare specimens collected from the sea of Quang Ninh. The space is designed to be open and combined with a modern LED screen system, vividly recreating the ocean world right in the heart of the museum. Floor 2 is dedicated to displaying models and historical artifacts related to Quang Ninh from ancient times to modernity. Visitors will admire hundreds of precious artifacts such as the tools used by the ancient mining people, archaeological artifacts, and traditional household items. At the same time, they will gain a deeper understanding of the culture of this land through historical documents reflecting social life at different stages.
In addition, famous historical sites of Quang Ninh Province will also be fully recreated at the museum for distant visitors to better understand the rich culture and history here. Moreover, the museum also displays artifacts from other countries to enrich the experience of visitors.
The second floor with a space rich in historical significance
Floor 3 is the most impressive space of the museum, where the coal mining industry, a key economic sector and also a symbol of Quang Ninh Province, is realistically recreated. All characteristic activities of this industry are authentically depicted at Quang Ninh Museum.
The space is modeled after a coal mine, with the model size designed to resemble real people, helping visitors understand more about the work of miners. Additionally, the third floor also displays many documents about the formation and development of the Quang Ninh coal industry through various stages, clearly reflecting the spirit of “Discipline and Unity” of the people here.
