From stories passed down, it is believed that King Khai Dinh was the first king to discover the beauty of Lang Co Beach. During a summer excursion in 1916, shortly after ascending the throne, the king surveyed the scenery from Hue to Hai Van and accidentally stumbled upon the bay with its tranquil, pristine beauty.
At that time, Lang Co was about 70km from Hue and about 30km from Da Nang, far enough to be quiet but close enough to be an ideal retreat. The king's fondness is clearly reflected when he returned to the capital and commissioned the construction of a summer palace called Tinh Viem right at Lang Co Beach.

From the center of Hue, you just need to drive straight along National Highway 1A towards Phu Bai and continue to Phu Loc to reach Lang Co. The route is quite clear, and the terrain is flat, making a motorcycle an interesting choice for those who enjoy the feeling of freedom. However, since the distance is about 65-70km, many visitors still prefer cars or buses to conserve energy for the trip.
Travel route from Hue center with a journey of about 70km
From Da Nang to Lang Co Beach is only about a third of the distance compared to starting from Hue, so you won't spend too much time getting there. Starting from the city center, you go along Nguyen Van Linh street.
Then continue to Dien Bien Phu and cross the Hue Intersection Overpass to enter the Ton Duc Thang - Nguyen Luong Bang route. When you reach the Nam O area, you will see directional signs for the Hai Van Tunnel or Hai Van Pass.
